Sergelstorg Stockholm, Sweden. Rick Shands, Architect Stockholm, Sweden 1998. Sergelstorg, or Sergels Square, was the center of the 1960s urban renewal of central Stockholm, largely instituted to bring the car into the center to counter suburbanization. The somewhat problematic Sergelstorg, depressed one level below the streets, was the subject of a call for ideas in 1998. This proposal raised the square up and introduced a hotel and commercial/ retail space, facing the 'Cultural House' and set as a final tower in the 1960s row of tower office buildings.
